Amazing!Īnd all this was made possible out of a small local agency in Shanghai named: YEJO TRAVEL And with his little son, now aged of 65 years we set up on a second hike to see the impressive White Holy Dragon Waterfall, almost 40 m of a thin and continious veil of water jumping over a polished cliff. I slept on a bed made by the grandfather of my host more than 70 years ago. Once arrived at the inner valley we were welcomed by a warm little village, out of 800 years of horseman history reveal upon our astonished eyes. But nonetheless as soon as we started the trail on the next morning I had my mouth wide open with the beauty of the morning myst slipping off the cliffs of amazing shapes, a landscape that will remain in my memories of China, a place that touch my soul and did my every step a pure pleasure. I heard before going that it was like the Shangri La of the East, and I've been to Shangri La myself so my expectations where pretty high. Leaving from Shanghai on a Friday after work, I set up with a few friends towards this top hiking spot.

I think it was only a 5-6 hour ride by bus with regular traffic. The best part is that it's relatively close to Shanghai. It seemed everywhere I looked was a beautiful photo opportunity.

I had expected the rice terraces as that's what was advertised in the trip, but I was so pleasantly surprised by all the other aspects in this area, including caves in the side of the mountains that used to be shrines before they were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, waterfalls and babbling brooks running through forests of bamboo. The scenic views were what truly what made the trip for me.

As we were in the midst of bamboo season, we had at least one bamboo dish at every meal, and since I personally love bamboo, I loved the local dishes served by the owners of the guesthouse. We stayed at the guesthouse there in the photos and it was a wonderful experience. I think we went at the perfect time as everything was green and growing, but it was still not too hot during the day, although it can be pretty warm under the sun. I was there on a 3-day hiking trip organized by M2adventures from April 29-May 1 and can't get over how beautiful it was there.
